2025 Carter Society Annual Meeting

Please join us to celebrate the Carter Society's 75th anniversary during our annual meeting in Durham, North Carolina from Sept. 11-13, 2025. This is an opportunity to reconnect with both the department and with Duke, but also with your classmates. The alumni residency class with the highest proportion of attendees will receive free registration to next year's meeting in Puerto Rico (in the event of a tie, the winning class will be chosen by lottery).

Where

• Note: The room block has closed. Non-block rooms at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club may still be available.
  

When

• A Thursday welcome reception will be held from 6:30-10 p.m. at Bay 7 (beside the Lucky Strike tower on the American Tobacco Campus); 324 Blackwell Street, #700, Durham, NC 27701. 
• Friday night's black-tie optional dinner-dance event will be held in the Presidents I & II Ballroom at the Washington Duke Inn from 7-11 p.m.

• Scientific sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday mornings with the annual business meeting to follow on Saturday. 

Optional other events and weekend activity options

• Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. — Tour of Duke University Hospital campus, including the Duke Ob/Gyn offices. No registration needed; details will be shared at the meeting.

• Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. — Golf tournament on the Duke University Golf Club course, organized by Dr. Andy Berchuck. The tournament will be best-ball format; $105/person for Duke faculty and staff, and $135/person for hotel guests and alumni (golf cart is included; faculty and staff can extend their rate to three others in their foursome). • Saturday evening at 6:35 p.m. — Durham Bulls game (vs. Norfolk Tides), featuring fireworks after the game; $20/person, families welcome. Sign up here.

• Plenty of time to explore Durham and Duke on your own or with colleagues!
