    Please join us for the Carter Society's 76th meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Oct. 1-4, 2026. The full scientific agenda will be released soon; for now, please scroll down to see a partial list of speakers.


    ✭ EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION ✭

    The "early bird" rate of $300/person for members will be available through July 15. After that, the rate will increase to $400/person.


    2026 CARTER SOCIETY MEETING TO-DO LIST

    Register for the Carter Society meeting (includes Thursday's beachfront welcome reception; Friday's "Salsa by Starlight" dinner and dance; and scientific sessions on Friday and Saturday). Please note that you must be up-to-date on your Carter Society membership in order to attend the annual meeting!     HOTEL INFORMATION


    We have a block of rooms available at The Royal Sonesta San Juan, a beachfront hotel overlooking Isla Verde Beach. Rooms include city, garden and ocean view. Click here to reserve your hotel room.


    MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

    Thursday's beachfront welcome reception (included in the cost of meeting registration) will be held 6-10 p.m. on the grounds of the hotel, and will include drinks and hors d'oeuvres. 

    Friday's "Salsa by Starlight" dinner and dance (included in the cost of meeting registration) will feature a buffet showcasing traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, followed by a salsa dancing lesson and an evening of dancing and music.

    Scientific sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday mornings, with the annual business meeting to follow on Saturday. The full scientific agenda will be released soon, but scientific speakers include Luke Gatta, MD; Cassandra Kisby, MD, MSJeffrey Wilkinson, MDRyan Bakaalar, MD; Nicole Kerner, MD; and Micael Lopez-Acevedo, MD. The Liam Haim Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Yarí Vale Moreno, MD. We're also excited to offer a talk from a local guide on the history of Puerto Rico.

    Friday afternoon: Carabalí Rainforest Park Horseback Ride

    Enjoy incredible views and experience the stunning flora and fauna of the Carabalí Rainforest Park and the foothills of El Yunque National Forest as you explore it on horseback. The ride takes you alongside Mameyes River, whose fresh clear waters are perfect for cooling off during the half-hour swimming and refreshments break in the two-hour tour.

    Saturday afternoon: Flavors of San Juan Food Tour

    Guests will dine on rice and beans, savory appetizers, and either make their own iconic cocktail (mojito) or mash their own Mofongo before capping it off with a delicious dessert. The expert guide’s narrative will provide valuable insight into traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, culture and Old San Juan’s architecture.
